Chopta and Tungnath Mahadev Trek is one of the most popular treks in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India. It is a perfect blend of adventure, spirituality, and scenic beauty. The trek to Tungnath takes you through dense forests, alpine meadows, and majestic mountain ranges, and culminates at the Tungnath temple, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world. Here’s a brief overview of what to expect on this amazing trek:

We drive to Chopta, a picturesque village nestled in the lap of the Himalayas. The journey takes around 7-8 hours, passing through some of the most scenic landscapes of Uttarakhand. We reach Chopta by late evening and check into our tents.

We start our trek early in the morning after breakfast. The trail passes through dense forests of rhododendron and oak trees, and takes us to Deoria Tal, a beautiful lake that is said to be the abode of the gods. From there, we continue our trek to Tungnath, which is about 3 km from Deoria Tal. The trek to Tungnath is steep and requires a good level of fitness. However, the stunning views of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges along the way make it all worth it.

On the third day, we woke up early and started our trek to Chandrashila, which is about 1.5 km from Tungnath. Chandrashila is a rocky peak that offers panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Peak, and Chaukhamba. After spending some time at Chandrashila, we descend back to Tungnath and then back to Chopta.

On the final day, we bid farewell to the Himalayas and started our journey back to Haridwar. The memories of the trek will stay with us forever.
