Having work experience of just four years in sales & marketing, it’d be too early to give a lecture about the difference between Marketing & Branding. Lol. But in these four years, whatever I’ve observed and learned about marketing and branding – I’d like to explain a bit about that.

Marketing activities include advertising, paid campaigns on digital platforms, radio ads, public relations, and other forms of communication with the goal of generating interest in a product or service. It is also the process of getting the brands out there for people to observe and gossip about. Marketing is not just about selling but generating the need of purchasing your product or service in customer’s minds.
The process involves finding out and fulfilling the needs of customers, determining the size of the target market and profit aspects, ascertaining which unit of the enterprise will serve best to the customers, promoting the products or services with the aim of selling, building client and customer relationship and much more.

Marketers’ goal of branding is to generate a specific perception in consumers’ minds about what the company stands for so they’ll purchase its products or services over another’s.
For example, Amul butter is known for the taste and deliciousness in the butter, so while picking any other butter – people would like to go for Amul first. When people think of Nike shoes they often think quality because that’s what Nike has been known for over the years.
