H2S Engineers — Building a Website That Works as Hard as the Team Does

A US-based engineering firm needed more than a digital presence. They needed a website that spoke the language of their clients — precise, trustworthy, and effortlessly clear. I owned it from strategy to final word.

The Brief

An Engineering Firm Ready to Grow — But the Website Wasn't

H2S Engineers is a US-based engineering services company with serious technical expertise and a track record to match. The problem? None of that came through online. Their digital presence didn’t reflect the caliber of their work — and in a market where credibility is currency, that gap was costing them.

They brought me in to fix it. Not just to write copy, but to think strategically about what the website needed to say, how it should feel, and what it should make a visitor do next. The development was handled by a specialist developer — I was responsible for everything that shapes the experience before a single line of code is written.

"Engineering clients don't make decisions on emotion — they make them on evidence. The website had one job: make H2S Engineers the obvious, credible choice the moment someone lands on it."

What I Owned

Strategy First. Content Always. Experience Throughout.

💻

Website Strategy

Defined site goals, target audience, user intent, and the overall messaging architecture before anything was designed.

🎨

UI/UX Direction

Shaped page structure, user journeys, and content hierarchy — guiding the developer on how the experience should work, not just look.

✍️

All Website Content

Wrote every word on the site — headlines, service descriptions, about sections, CTAs — from scratch, calibrated for a US B2B engineering audience.

📐

Content Management

Organised, structured, and managed all content assets — ensuring consistency, brand alignment, and clarity across every page.

Challenge & Approach

The Problem Wasn't the Engineering. It Was the Explanation.

The Challenge
Engineering firms tend to describe what they do in language only engineers understand. H2S had deep expertise — but the website needed to speak to decision-makers, procurement leads, and business clients who need to trust before they talk. Translating technical depth into accessible, compelling language without losing credibility is the hard part.
The Podcast Format Was Intentional
Lead with outcomes, not processes. Show confidence, not jargon. Every page was designed around a single question the visitor was silently asking — and answered it directly, before they had to scroll too far or think too hard.

How I Did It

From Discovery to a Website That Converts

Audience & Competitor Research

Studied the US engineering services landscape — what clients look for, how competing firms positioned themselves, and where the gaps were. This shaped every strategic decision that followed.

Sitemap & Information Architecture

Designed the page structure around how a potential client actually thinks — not around how the company was internally organised. Every page had a purpose. Every section earned its place.

Messaging Framework

Defined the brand voice for a US market: direct, confident, technically fluent but never alienating. Established the positioning line, key value propositions, and how each service would be framed.

Full Content Writing

Wrote all page content — from homepage headlines to nuanced service descriptions to trust-building about sections and clear, action-oriented CTAs. Every word was intentional, calibrated for a client who has high expectations and low patience for vagueness.

UI/UX Collaboration with the Developer

Worked closely with the web developer to align content structure with design — directing layouts, visual hierarchy, and interaction flow to ensure the experience matched the strategy, not just the aesthetics.

Review, Refine, and Sign Off

Reviewed every page pre-launch for content accuracy, brand consistency, and UX clarity. Nothing went live without being tested against the original brief — does this page do what it's supposed to do?

The Thinking Behind It

Three Content Decisions That Made the Difference

Outcome-first headlines

Instead of "We Provide Engineering Solutions," the site opens on what the client gains. Engineering clients aren't looking for a vendor — they're looking for a problem that gets solved. The copy reflects that.

Trust architecture, not trust claims

Anyone can write "experienced and reliable." The site was built so that trust was earned through specificity — clear service scopes, precise language, and a structure that demonstrated competence rather than asserting it.

Writing for two audiences at once.

H2S serves both technical decision-makers and business stakeholders. The content was layered — enough technical detail to satisfy the engineer reading it, clear enough outcomes for the executive approving the budget.

What Went Into This

What This Proves

A website is only as strong as the strategy behind it. H2S Engineers didn’t need more pages — they needed better thinking on every page they already had. I brought that thinking. The developer built it. The site does the work.
